Join us around the table.
Those who lead others into God’s presence often lack spaces to be renewed themselves. This retreat will offer space for just that: heart-level refreshment and renewal.
Together we’ll explore a deeply rooted theology of worship through sessions grounded in both calling and craft. During spacious times of fireside worship, we’ll invite the Holy Spirit’s warm, personal work among us. Father & daughter Darrell Johnson & Marissa Ochoa will again serve as conversation partners, alongside Nick Herbert & Jenni McGrew.
Outside of sessions you will have plenty of time to rest, connect with others who understand ministry life, and enjoy the beauty of Barnabas. Join us around the table—you don’t need to bring a thing.
Note: You don’t need to be an employed worship pastor to attend. While we’ll engage the realities of ministry life, this retreat is open to all who serve in worship.

Darrell Johnson
Darrell Johnson has been preaching Jesus Christ and His gospel for over 50 years. He has served a number of Presbyterian congregations in California, Union Church of Manila in the Philippines, and the historic First Baptist Church in the heart of Vancouver, Canada. Darrell has also taught preaching at Fuller Theological Seminary, Regent College, and Carey Theological College. He is now serving as part of the pastoral team at The Way Church in Vancouver.
He and his wife Sharon have been married over 50 years. Together they have raised four children adopted from four different countries of the world, and now enjoy loving eleven active grandchildren!
Marissa Ochoa has been leading worship for the past 20 years. She was on staff at Tenth Avenue Alliance Church from 2015-2025, and last year started at Peace Portal Church as Worship and Arts Pastor. She recently returned from Toronto, spending time with 20 other worship leaders representing nearly every province, under Crossroads Media, writing songs for the greater Church in hopes that many would come to know and sing about the great love of Jesus.
Marissa has a huge heart for worship leaders and for our calling and alignment to be renewed through theological teaching and understanding of what worship truly is, while also providing spaces for us to spend meaningful and intimate moments with Jesus through music and prayer.
Marissa and her dad, Darrell, are looking forward to creating space for you to come, find restoration and be filled by his Spirit.
Marissa Ochoa
Nick ‘Herbs’ Herbert is a creative encourager who happily lives to see the two worlds of music and art collide. He is a songwriter, artist, worship leader, speaker & creative thought leader that promotes curve ball thinking and joy wherever he can.
Nick is a multi-award winning songwriter signed to Capitol Music Publishing, hosting Capitol music song-camps and is a song developer for Gas Street Music. As a songwriter, he travels regularly and works extensively with different performers in the Christian/Gospel sector. He has had songs recorded by Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Jeremy Camp, Kim Walker-Smith, Guvna B, Rend Collective, Kari Jobe & The Belonging Co, Mack Brock, Bethel Music, Phil Wickham, Patrick Mayberry and Tim Hughes to name a few.
As an artist, he has exhibited in London and has always been fascinated by the way art intersects life and embraces the whole world as a gallery. He graduated from Slade School of Fine Art, London with a bachelor of arts.
Nick is based in Birmingham, UK, with his wife Ali and two children Gracie & Josiah, serving on the leadership team at Gas Street Church.

Jenni McGrew
Jenni McGrew is a pastor and worship leader with a heart to see people become wholehearted worshippers of Jesus. She and her husband Jake co-lead Hope City Church in Abbotsford and Chilliwack, BC, where she serves in worship, teaching, and leadership.
With over three decades in ministry, Jenni is passionate about helping to form worshippers whose lives are marked by surrender, spiritual formation, and a love for the presence and Word of God.
In 2015, she founded Worship Leaders Collective, a global community serving and encouraging worship leaders and teams in over 100 countries. Her desire is simple: to help raise up a holy generation of worshippers to the glory of God for such a time as this.
